Matthew Kershaw Bio

With over twenty years of experience in filmed entertainment and marketing, my work has spanned a wide range of roles—creative director, producer, writer, director, showrunner, and unscripted TV development executive. That experience also includes new technologies including Artificial Intelligence, where I've become a leader and pioneer in the use of AI in the entertainment industry.

That experience covers both scripted and unscripted television, digital content, theatrical productions, and advertising across digital, television, and radio. Projects have included everything from social media campaigns and video strategy to experiential and interactive initiatives, out-of-home and print ads, photography, title sequences, motion graphics, key art, and illustration.

Branding and identity work for marketing and PR has also played a major role. My portfolio includes writing, directing, and producing short-form content in genres ranging from documentaries to scripted comedies, talk shows, and broadcast/digital commercials. I’ve produced digital series for platforms such as CW Seed, Verizon Go90, and AwesomenessTV, and have created television series and specials for networks like National Geographic, Slice, Animal Planet, CBC, MuchMusic, and Food Network.

In branded entertainment, I’ve worked with clients including Marriott Content Studio, Sheraton Hotels, Disney Cruise Lines, Moxy Hotels, Edmunds.com, Dollywood & Herschend Family Entertainment, SeaWorld, and Mayweather Boxing + Fitness. I’ve also directed high-profile talent such as Dolly Parton, Jon Stewart, the Sturniolo Triplets, Amanda Cerny, and Floyd Mayweather for platforms like Snapchat, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook Live.

While at Buck Productions, I played a key role in developing and producing television shows and branded content. That included the pilot for Vancouver Reno, a new home renovation series for Magnolia Network, as well as two episodes of In With the Old. I also produced pilots for MTV (Collector's Piece, Yo Stay Hungry) and the feature-length documentary OJ Simpson: Blood, Lies and Murder for Reelz. In the past year, I’ve successfully pitched and sold concepts to Magnolia, HGTV, A&E, and FOX.

Before Buck, I was the Creative Director at Remedy Television + Branded, an agency–production company hybrid.

Throughout my career, I’ve earned recognition including a Gemini nomination (Canada’s Emmy), and multiple Telly, W3 and Davey Awards.
